LIFE METER: AN INNOVATIVE COMPANY COMMITTED IN INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS IN HEALTHCARE
HISTORY
Life Meter srl is an innovative start-up established on 10 October 2016 based in Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy.
The company has as its exclusive object the design, development, prototyping, production and marketing of innovative products and services with high technological value, in the electromedical sector also through basic research, industrial research or experimental development, disseminating the results through the teaching, publication and transfer of technologies. The company is currently engaged in the design and construction of an electro-medical device for the real-life assessment of oxygen saturation and heart rate during daily life.
CONTEXT
The explosion of the phenomenon of longevity has led to a significant increase in chronic conditions, particularly cardiorespiratory.
This increase in chronic diseases and the reduced financial resources of the National Health Service have forced the transfer of assistance from the hospital to the local area.
Local assistance, however, to be effective, must have valid monitoring tools to be used real-life.
Life Meter has intercepted this need by designing and creating a Device: BrOxy.
This electro-medical device allows, through the accurate and continuous measurement of SpO2, heart rate and movement, to monitor patients with respiratory insufficiency induced by any cause and to bring out unrecognized episodes of oxymaglobin desaturation due to effort or sleep, defining their severity.
As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team detected the need to upgrade its base technology for a longerterm home monitoring tool, suitable for the practise of telemedicine, to enable both the timely recognition of worsening symptoms and need of hospitalization in patients and the early discharge, in safety, after acute hospitalization.
